Danner Skyridge

The Boots That Can Handle Pavement & Trails

Danner has produced a great pair of boots that take on two arenas at the same time. The Danner Skyridge is the product of designing a boot that can work well in urban environments yet still hold their own on the trails and rocky terrain. The Skyridge boots are made from vintage aesthetics blended with known Danner quality. Danner has been making Boots since 1932. They are known for their durable construction and craftsmanship.

Danner Skyridge Soles

A Boot For Trails & Everyday Duty

The Skyridge was designed to be worn everyday.  They are comfortable, lightweight and supportive.  This pair of boots was also made to handle trail use as well for hiking when the moment calls.  With this in mind the boots have a very decent tread, lace higher than sneakers for ankle support (4.5″) and are waterproof.  The pair weighs 35 oz, is imported and unfortunately are not recraftable by Danner.

More Than One Choice

Danner has released the Skyridge in three color options: Jet Black, Dark Earth and my pick- Major Brown.  All three look great in my opinion.  I chose the Major Brown color because of the sole being camouflage and the overall color scheme is muted.  The Skyridge is primarily constructed of super soft suede but also incorporates durable cotton ripstop and rubber.  Laces are held in place by metal loops and hooks so you can lace all the way or partially depending on preference.

Yeah, They Feel Really Good

Danner Skyridge Boots & Box

My pair has been extremely comfortable and much lighter than the boots I had been wearing previously.  Danner used an EVA midsole which partially is to blame for the ridiculous comfort.  In addition to the midsole, they used an Ortholite footbed as well.  These are the most comfortable boots I have ever owned, hands down.  In the pair I wore for years before these, the original inserts wore out long ago and I replaced with a pair of gel custom cut pads.  The Skyridges blow the old ones out of the water.

Waterproof For Those Rainy Days

Danner Dry Liner

One of the most important features I look for in an everyday boot is level of water resistance.  The Skyridges are completely waterproof thanks to the Danner Dry liner they used.  Keeping water out is a really nice thing if you have ever had to lumber on with soggy feet and know how it feels.  Almost better than keeping water out, is allowing moisture inside to escape at the same time.  The Dry liner accomplishes both very well.

First Impressions- I’m Impressed

I’ll say that for my first pair of Danner footwear I am impressed with the Skyridges.  They are very comfortable, waterproof and also made of beautiful suede.  What more could you ask for?  I’ve been wearing them for ~40 days give or take and they are holding up excellently.  When I get out and finally take a hike with them on, I will know more on their overall performance.  In time I am excited to see how they fare.  A follow up piece will be released when I put some more miles on these, right now they seem promising.  I’d say they are a good bet for an overall boot that isn’t made for heavy duty use.  They aren’t steel toes but for light or everyday wear they fit the bill.
