Water- Daily Intake Importance

Why Getting Enough Is Crucial

Humans are comprised of approximately 60% water.  Therefore, it is a vital aspect of our wellbeing that we receive enough everyday.  Estimates of what is enough are somewhere ~2 liters/day.  It may be wise to pad that with 10% more to be safe.  Beyond humans, without water there is no life that we know of.  There are more reasons as to why water is so important than this article covers, but here are a few of the big ones.  This list is in no particular order.

1-Prevents Dehydration

Consuming enough water is a huge way to prevent dehydration.  This one may be fairly obvious to a large number of the population.  Who would have guessed?  It turns out that dehydration leads to a whole slew of problems that compound on each other rather quickly.  For those who don’t know this already, drink around 2 liters of water every single day.  When the body becomes dehydrated, blood then becomes thicker which in turn restricts it’s flow.  Thicker blood slows down the body’s circulation in an attempt to retain water in as many of it’s cells as possible.

2- Regulates Bodily Temperature

Water is one of the most detrimental regulators of body temperature.  Not having enough will cause a rise which will in turn produce feelings of poor wellbeing.  Eventually, there are more severe consequences to an elevated bodily temperature which occur down the line.

3- Improves Mood

Who doesn’t want to feel better?  Drinking enough water can be an easy way of improving your mood and keeping the good vibes going.  When your body has an adequate level of a required resource, your stress level reduces as you need one less thing.  If your system does not have enough water, this will effect your thoughts and make thinking in general less clear.

4- Prevents Kidney Stones

Kidney stones, also known as urolithiasis, can often be extremely painful and even require surgery.  Why not mitigate this terrible condition by simply dinking more water?  This only seems like a logical step to take toward being a more healthy person.  More water in the system means that expelling this from the body becomes easier for it to do.  In this way, self regulation is hugely beneficial as a preventative measure.

5- Raises Energy Levels

When times are low, reach for more water.  Yes, drinking more water can lead to increases in energy levels.  This makes sense as a higher intake of water can mean more efficient overall function.  With less energy being sourced for regular functioning, you then will have more to utilize for other purposes.

The Lesson Here – Drink Water

By keeping your water consumption levels high, you are doing yourself a huge favor.  Remember everyday to drink a minimum of 2 liters.  This is protect you from overheating, exhaustion, bad mood, low energy, kidney stones and a huge amount of other bad things.  When in doubt, drink more.  If you are physically working harder or in hot conditions where you sweat more, drink more water.  Be a happier person and get the proper amount of fluids that your body needs in order to operate at optimal levels.
